Masterclasses
The focus of MASTERCLASS is process: artists and students discussing, demonstrating and celebrating the artistic process. This is an opportunity for aspiring artists to see how Northlight's top artists approach the creation of a production, a script and/or a character.
MASTERCLASS events are tied into our mainstage programming, and attendees of Masterclass are offered ticket discounts and other special opportunities. Programs are scheduled on a seasonal basis.
The cost for each Masterclass is $10.

Masterclass History:
May 2009: The World of Martin McDonagh: A Masterclass with Artistic Director BJ Jones and actors Jamie Abelson & Kelly O'Sullivan
BJ Jones has staged highly regarded productions of three Martin McDonagh plays at Northlight. This rare opportunity will provide insight into acting and directing the work of one of the most exciting voices in contemporary playwriting. Jones along with The Lieutenant of Inishmore cast members Jamie Abelson and Kelly O'Sullivan will perform and discuss scenes from various McDonagh plays including The Lieutenant of Inishmore and The Cripple of Inishmaan.
January 2009: Playwriting: A Masterclass with Kenneth Lin
This masterclass will celebrate the playwriting process. This is an opportunity for aspiring writers to see how top contemporary playwright Kenneth Lin approached the creation of his script Po Boy Tango. He will lead attendees in writing exercises as well as a question and answer session.
January 2008: Playwriting: A Masterclass with Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder
This masterclass explores writing exercises and concepts of playwriting. This is an opportunity for aspiring writers to see how top contemporary playwright Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder approaches her writing process. She will discuss her work Gee's Bend.
