NORTHLIGHT STUDENT SERIES:

Masterclasses

The focus of MASTERCLASS is process: artists and students discussing, demonstrating and celebrating the artistic process. This is an opportunity for aspiring artists to see how Northlight's top artists approach the creation of a production, a script and/or a character.

MASTERCLASS events are tied into our mainstage programming, and attendees of Masterclass are offered ticket discounts and other special opportunities. Programs are scheduled on a seasonal basis. The cost of each Masterclass is $15 per student.

MUSICAL THEATRE MASTERCLASS

Saturday, May 19, 11:00am-1pm
From [title of show] Doug Peck, Musical Director, and Stephen Schellhardt, Actor, teach this workshop on musical theatre performance. This workshop is a rare opportunity to learn from two of Chicago's most sought after musical theatre artists. Students will learn some of the technical and creative skills of creating a musical performance.

Janet Ulrich Brooks, Actor in Ten Chimneys, teaches this workshop on preparing for a role. Janet Ulrich Brooks has appeared at the Goodman, TimeLine Theatre Company, Pegasus Players, Strawdog Theatre Company, Steppenwolf and Collaboraction. She will teach a workshop on acting process and making the role your own. 


Emily McConnell

COSTUME DESIGN  
Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 11am - 1pm

Taught by Emily McConnell, Costume Designer for Black Pearl Sings!, this Masterclass will teach students the basics of costume design by one of Chicago's busiest designers. From how a designer creates a sketch to working with actors and choosing fabrics, this workshop will give students the basics of what techniques designers use to create costumes that can be worn for production.
