“You'd have to be dead not to be charmed by Beth Broderick.” (Chicago Reader)
Bad Dates is ...witty in a Sarah Jessica Parker kind of way.” (Chicago Tribune)
Spiced with...deft observations, recognizable eccentricities, clever writing and knowing humor.  (Chicago Sun-Times)
“Frothy, irresistibly charming, and bubbling over with weary good cheer.”  (Boston Globe)
“Watching the Bad Dates pileup is crashingly good fun.” (Seattle P-I)
Just in time for the holidays comes an uproarious smash hit comedy that has left audiences in stitches across the country! Part Sex in the City, part Bridget Jones’ Diary and part The Perils of Pauline, Bad Dates is all good fun!  You’ll be wiping away tears of laughter and sympathy as Texas transplant, single mother and shoe fanatic Haley Walker struggles to raise her daughter, run a popular restaurant and find her way back into the dating world in modern-day Manhattan.  Witty, endearing and laugh-out-loud funny, Bad Dates takes a stream-of-consciousness look at modern-day relationships through one woman’s search for the perfect date—and the perfect pair of shoes. Northlight’s production is directed by Tony-Award winner Judith Ivey and features Beth Broderick (TV’s Lost, CSI: Miami and Sabrina the Teenage Witch).

BJ’s Take:
Theresa Rebeck has given us a hilarious and touching snapshot of an American life that makes for a perfect holiday treat.  This Chicago premiere will be directed by Judith Ivey, with whom I appeared in my very first show here at Northlight in 1976 (The Goodbye People).
