Beth Broderick (Haley Walker) is best known to audiences for her portrayal of Aunt Zelda on the long running series Sabrina the Teenage Witch. She recently starred in the West Coast premiere of Bad Dates at Laguna Playhouse, and is honored to be working once again with Judith Ivey. Beth has appeared in numerous LA productions including Zastrozzi at Beverly Hills Playhouse, Triplets in Unison at Skylight Theatre Hollywood and Carnal Knowledge at Pasadena Playhouse. Her NY credits include numerous appearances Off-Broadway, among them Murder at the Rutherford House, Elizabeth Rex the Musical and Stage Door. Television credits include: The Five Mrs. Buchanans (where she met Judith Ivey), Hearts Afire, Glory Days (starring opposite Brad Pitt), a recent guest star appearance on TNT’s The Closer, and a recurring role on ABC’s Lost. Film credits include: Stealing Home, Psycho Beach Party, Bonfire of the Vanities, Fools Rush In, and American Playhouse’s 1000 Pieces of Gold, Shadow Hunter, French Exit, The Silencer and Man of the Year. She recently completed the independent films States Evidence and Tom’s Nu Heaven, and just returned from Romania where she completed the new feature Timber Falls. Broderick and longtime collaborator Dennis Bailey have written several screenplays including A Cup of Joe, Wonderland and Three for The Money. The latest project for her company, Regardless Films, is House of Joy based on the novel The Last Great Snake Show. Broderick is also a tireless humanitarian, being a founder of MOMENTUM, one of the country’s first organizations to help people with AIDS. Beth wants to extend a special thank you to Michael Alden.

Judith Ivey (Director) was a resident actress at Northlight Theatre (then the Evanston Theatre Company) for the 1977-78 season. She was nominated for a Jeff Award for her performance in The Goodbye People, co-starring BJ Jones. Since then Judith has received the Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for her portrayals in Steaming and Hurlyburly, the Obie Award for The Moonshot Tape, and countless other awards for her stage and film work. Most recently she was honored with the 2004 Sydney Kingsley-Madge Evans Award from the Dramatists’ Guild and was inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame. Some film credits include Devil’s Advocate, Washington Square, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Love Hurts, What Alice Found, and Flags of our Fathers. Judith has starred in four television series, most memorably Designing Women, and was Emmy-nominated for her performance in Hallmark’s What the Deaf Man Heard. As a director, Ms. Ivey’s most recent credits are Southern Comforts at Primary Stage in New York City and Waiting for the Flood at ACT in San Francisco. She also directed Bad Dates with Beth Broderick at the Laguna Playhouse, Steel Magnolias at the Alley Theatre, and More at the off-Broadway Union Square Theatre and the Falcon Theatre in Los Angeles. She has also been touring the U.S. in the one-woman show Women on Fire, by Irene O’Garden. Ms. Ivey is married to Tim Braine, and is the proud mother of Maggie and Tom. She has been a member of AEA for 32 years, and SSDC for 4 years.

Theresa Rebeck (Playwright) Past New York productions include Spike Heels, Loose Knit, The Family of Mann and The Water’s Edge at Second Stage; Bad Dates and The Butterfly Collection at Playwrights Horizons; and View of the Dome at New York Theatre Workshop. Omnium Gatherum (co-written with Alexandra Gersten-Vassilaros, finalist for the Pulitzer Prize) was featured at the Humana Festival 2003, and had a commercial run at Variety Arts. Her play The Scene, produced at the Humana Festival in March 2006, will be seen at Second Stage as part of the 2006-2007 season. Her work has been widely produced both regionally and internationally. She is currently working on commissions from Playwright’s Horizons, Denver Theatre Center, and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. In television, Ms. Rebeck has written for Dream On, Brooklyn Bridge, L.A. Law, Maximum Bob, First Wave, Third Watch, and NYPD Blue, where she also worked as a producer. Produced features include Harriet the Spy, Gossip, and the independent feature Sunday on the Rocks. Awards include the Mystery Writer’s of America’s Edgar Award, the Writer’s Guild of America award for Episodic Drama, the Hispanic Images Imagen Award, and the Peabody, all for her work on NYPD Blue. She has been a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn prize twice, won the National Theatre Conference Award (for The Family of Mann), and was awarded the William Inge New Voices Playwriting Award in 2003. Ms. Rebeck holds a PhD. from Brandeis University in Victorian Melodrama. She and her husband Jess Lynn have two children, Cooper and Cleo.

Tom Burch (Scenic Design) is thrilled to return to Northlight where previous credits include Red Herring and Studs Terkel’s “The Good War.” Other Chicago credits: touring productions of Macbeth, The Comedy Of Errors, and the upcoming Taming Of The Shrew for Chicago Shakespeare; Hatfield And McCoy and Ellen Under Glass (House Theatre); This Happy Breed (Timeline); The Shadow, Sirens Of Titan and Strong Poison (Lifeline); The Dark At The Top Of The Stairs and It's A Wonderful Life (ATC); as well as shows for Apple Tree, Light Opera Works, Northwestern University, and others around town. Regional credits include shows for Peninsula Players, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Williamstown Theatre Festival and others. He is the recipient of 2 After Dark Awards, a Jeff Citation and the 2005 Michael Maggio Emerging Designer Award. Upcoming projects: associate designer for Three Musketeers at Chicago Shakespeare, Sondheim's The Frogs in the pool at Truman College for Pegasus Players, and Crossing California for Lifeline. Keith Oval Parham (Lighting Design) is thrilled to be working on the Northlight Theatre production of Bad Dates. In the past, he has designed numerous productions for TUTA Theatre Chicago (where he is a company member), Steppenwolf Theatre Company, The Goodman Theatre, Lookingglass Theatre Company, Chicago Opera Theatre, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Next Theatre Company, European Repertory Theatre, Timeline Theatre Company, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble and Theatre Wit.
Julie Keen (Costume Design) is very excited that her design for Bad Dates, originally produced for Laguna Playhouse in 2005, is making it to the Northlight stage. Julie’s most recent design credits include Shear Madness and And the Winner Is (Laguna Playhouse), Miss Nelson is Missing (Lewis Family Playhouse), Scouting Reality (Teen Players of South Coast Repertory), and Arms and the Man (A Noise Within). Her many additional credits include: The Sleeper, Many Happy Returns, The Constant Wife, and Lovers at Versailles (Laguna Playhouse); Mourning Becomes Electra (A Noise Within); Three Viewings, The Interrogation of Nathan Hale, Faith Healer, Playland, and Lips Together, Teeth Apart (South Coast Repertory); and Sizwe Bansi is Dead (Wisdom Bridge Theatre in Chicago). Julie was the Assistant to the Costume Designer for the Tony-nominated national tour of Peter Pan, and has worked for Center Theatre Group, The Washington Opera and the Utah Shakespearean Festival. Kristi J. Martens (Production Stage Manager) is glad to be back at Northlight Theatre for Bad Dates. Previous Northlight credits include A Marvelous Party: The Noel Coward Celebration, Pride & Prejudice, and Everything’s Ducky. Other theaters where Kristi has worked include: Drury Lane Evergreen Park (where their production of Singin’ In the Rain won the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Musical), Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace, Festival Theater (Oak Park, IL), Theater at the Center (Munster, IN), Pheasant Run Theatre (St. Charles, IL) and Carousel Dinner Theatre (Akron, OH). She was also the resident stage manager for the children’s theatre at Drury Lane Evergreen Park for over 13 years and was an Assistant Stage Manager at the Goodman Theatre for the Mamet Festival.
