New Plays
Northlight Theatre is always seeking challenging and thought-provoking new work; however, due to the large volume of scripts we receive, we only accept full manuscripts from literary agents. If you are a playwright currently without representation, you are welcome to submit your materials according to our sample submission guidelines. A sample submission should include a letter of inquiry, a brief synopsis, no more than ten pages of consecutive dialogue, a cast breakdown, a CD (for musical submissions), and an SASE to facilitate correspondence. We will contact you as soon as possible should we be interested in requesting the full script. Please send your materials to:

Casting
Northlight Theatre casts primarily from actors based in the
Chicago
area. Casting actors from outside the
Chicago
area depends specifically upon the demands of each individual production.
For Equity performers:
General auditions for Equity actors are held once a year, typically in early/mid spring. Announcements for Equity general auditions are made on the Northlight website, in Performink, and via the Equity hotline. Appointments are taken by the Chicago Equity office. Auditions for specific productions throughout the season are by invitation only.
As always, Northlight accepts submissions of headshots and resumes via mail, especially if you have an interest in a particular production. We may set up a general audition appointment, particularly for Equity actors who are new to town, time permitting. Please send all headshots and resumes to:
