The Northlight Theatre Academy Performing Arts Camp recognizes each student as an individual, challenging our aspiring actors and encouraging the beginners. Our summer courses teach teamwork, ensemble building, self-confidence, communicating effectively in a group, and emphasize a strong sense of community - building a lifelong appreciation for the theatre, and developing the audience and artists of the future.
All of our teaching professionals are skilled, experienced teaching artists and administrators dedicated to bringing theatre arts to young people and committed to creating a wonderful (and full of wonder) environment and sharing their love of theatre in a safe, age-appropriate camp setting. North Shore Center for the Performing Arts!
Junior Camp - Grades 3-6
This unique camp is designed to provide children with a strong foundation in performing arts while celebrating great summer camp traditions like games, swimming, field trips to see plays, creating a show for family and friends, and fun!
Senior Camp - Grades 7-9
This innovative camp, designed specifically for grades 7-9, uses expert theatre artists to train students in the areas of Playwriting and Playwrights, Comedy and Improv, and Musical Theatre. In addition to making new friends and having a lot of fun, students take field trips to see professional plays, choose from exciting elective classes, and rehearse a play for the end of session show.

Want to jumpstart your professional career, work with industry professionals, perfect your monologue and get great headshots? Then our Summer Audition Workshop is for you! This one-week professional intensive is designed for students in grades 7-12 who are interested in learning more about the Chicago theatre/film/TV industry and meeting the people who run it.
The Summer Audition Workshop, June 9 - June 13 (9am-3pm), includes the following:
- One-on-one monologue coaching from Devon de Mayo, Northlight Theatre Academy Director and Co-founder/Director of Dog & Pony Theatre Company
- Headshots by Suzanne Plunkett (a $350 value)
- Hands-on professional workshops covering on-camera skills, cold readings, and musical theatre auditions taught by Chicago professionals
- Morning business talks (How to do a resume, audition etiquette, how to get an agent, etc.)
- Lunchtime Q&As with professional agents, directors, and actors
- Matinee of Northlight's production of Lady with all the Answers starring Judith Ivey
- A showcase of all of the monologues at the end of the week to which we will invite industry professionals
